Ideas for Wedding Runners
- Traditional aisle runners create a simple path to the altar --- typically colored a simple white or ivory, the runner may be bordered by lace or a simple colored outline to give it definition. A popular modern touch is to add your monogram to the runner, either at the entrance to the ceremony of near the center of the runner. Adding your own monogram brands the runner for your ceremony. Depending on the fabric, you may stencil it on yourself or order a runner with your monogram emblazoned on.
- If you have remaining funds in your wedding's flower budget, consider augmenting your aisle runner with colorful petals. Ideal for outdoor ceremonies where nature is already all around, flower petals in your wedding's colors make a bright addition to any runner. In some cases, you may scatter petals across a contrasting runner to create a colorful juxtaposition. If you prefer, though, you may even scatter the flower petals so thickly that you do not need an actual runner underneath.
- Do-it-yourself aisle runner flair is the ideal complement for a theme wedding. You can create any shape in any size and color you see fit. For a "starry night" wedding, for example, cut out paper stars in varying sizes, paint them and scatter them along either side of your runner for a themed border. Use other simple shapes such as hearts or even more abstract ones such as diamonds to complement your style, colors and theme. Tape them to the aisle to prevent people from tripping on them.
- When you want your aisle runner to do some of the talking for you, printed decals may be your best option. Decal-cutting machines, available at high-end craft stores, work like computer printers and allow you to print any image you want on a variety of materials. This gives you the ability to print customized decals that you can stick to the hard floor of a church --- decals that can take the form of shapes, monograms, a poem, wedding vows or virtually anything else.
