- 1). Look at the sire and the dam. Toy poodle breeders will have size information on both parents, as well as other dogs in the puppy's breed line. Ask if they have bred this pair before and the typical size of their offspring.
- 2). Weigh the puppy at 10 weeks of age. Multiply that weight by 2.5. Toy Poodle News says the resulting number should be a good approximation of the weight the pup will reach as an adult. For example, a puppy that weighs 1.5 lbs. at 10 weeks should weigh about 4 lbs. full grown; a 4-lb., 10-week-old pup should reach about 10 lbs.
- 3). Refer to a poodle size estimator chart. Poodle Poppy and FancyPoo4U provide charts where you can compare the size of your puppy to averages of other poodles' weights at each stage of growth.
