Event Ideas for an Anniversary

    Host a Cookout

    • Fire up that grill and host a cookout in honor of the anniversary. Celebrate with some good comfort foods, such as hot dogs, burgers, beverages and cake. Part of the festivities can include games for the youngsters and the adults, perhaps a cake or pie eating contest and activities in the swimming pool if you have a pool and the weather is agreeable. This is a casual, yet comfortable, way to celebrate a marriage or work anniversary.

    Reserve a Boat

    • If you want to go the formal and glamorous anniversary event route, reserve a boat that accommodates large parties and provides dinner, dancing and entertainment. Invite your guests along with dates, and enjoy the evening as the boat takes you on a smooth ride. Make sure that somewhere in the event is a toast, or maybe a roast.

    A Surprise Weekend Trip

    • Milestone wedding anniversaries, such as a 25th or 50th anniversary, call for celebrations with family. If you and your spouse are preparing for a milestone anniversary, you can arrange a trip for the two of you to fly to a beach or the bed and breakfast where you stayed when you first started dating --- something nostalgic. Either way, surprise your spouse by inviting the rest of the family to meet you there. Upon your arrival you will be greeted with happy anniversary signs, smiling faces and can spend an enjoyable weekend together.

    Keep it Cool With Cocktails

    • A cocktail party is an ideal way to celebrate a formal occasion without having to fuss over a full dinner. At cocktail parties, people are typically served beverages and appetizers. The atmosphere encourages mingling and maybe some dancing to a live jazz band. If you host a cocktail party at an art gallery or a museum, guests can roam around with their beverages and small plates and enjoy the sights. Galleries and museums can inspire a theme for your cocktail party as well.
