Recycling for the Environment: Simple Ways To Make A Big Impact
There are many small things you can do to improve the environment.
Recycling is one of them.
Let us take for example the case of lemon peel.
I am not sure what you are thinking of what a lemon peel could do, after we get the juice from it.
Did you know that there are more than 10 uses for a lemon peel? Lemon can be used around the house for cleaning.
It can also be used for cooking as well as for beauty purposes.
Lemon rind for cleaning around the house: Did you ever know that when your stove tops have some amount of oil that splattered on it can be cleansed without the use of soap? When you are about to throw the garbage, it will be great to put the unused peel or peels together with the garbage so as to minimize any smell.
Then there is the ever famous microwave oven.
I wonder if you have the experience of having to clean the interiors with strong chemical cleaners because of the cement like properties which was caused by food that had exploded in there.
I know it was time consuming, had that experience, unfortunately.
So, what do we do with the lemon peel? The lemon rind will be added with halfway water in a microwave safe bowl.
Cook in high for 5 minutes, this will allow the water to boil that produces steam that will condense the residues.
After 5 minutes, carefully remove the bowl and wipe off the mess with a towel.
Great huh! There are still a lot of things that the lemon rind could do for us around the house but the space here is no longer going to permit that.
Now, when it comes to using the lemon peel when we have to cook, I know that almost everybody has a sweet tooth but unfortunately we may be eating sweets that makes us gain weight or will cause cavities.
Well, have you ever tried, candied lemon? You can also use grapefruit or orange peels for this.
This is so easy to make actually.
This can be eaten plain or dipped in melted chocolate.
Also used for bread recipes, cake and cookies.
Now, before I really run out of space to write, I better share now the use of lemon peel for beauty purposes.
If you are concerned about age spots all you have to do is apply a small piece of the lemon peel on the affected area and leave for a good 1 hour.
Then there are days that lotion just does not seem to be as effective on dry elbows, try using half part of the lemon then sprinkle with baking soda then twist the lemon as if juicing it, do this for about 10 minutes at the most.
Rinse then dry.
