After all, re-upholstering is less costly than buying the entire piece of furniture again.

Upholsteries are made by expert craftsmen who work in factory settings or in studios. These craftsmen upholster buttons, pillows and furniture with leather or fabric and either work individually or in a team as a member. They usually start with the wooden frame and build upholstered couch or chair or start right from scratch building wooden frame and then adding upholstery. The tools of these craftsmen include sewing materials like sewing machines and standard carpentry tools.

There are different kinds of upholstered furniture available. The one you buy must go well along with the environment it has been bought for. So, you will need to consider a few things before reupholstering or buying like how much you have plans of using the piece of furniture, where you want to use it indoors or outdoors, the maximum longevity you want from it and how much you wish to spend for its maintenance and upkeep. If the upholstered piece is set to be in the family room or in any other area that receives high traffic, a stain resistant finish must be the preference. For instance, leather lasts for long. However, if you want to keep the piece outdoors in the garden or in the terrace, you need to make sure the fabric is water as well as stain resistance.
