Low Blood Pressure Can Be Dangerous to Your Health

Low blood pressure can arise for lots of reasons - some of them just related to chance - some closely tied in with an underlying disease or illness.
But is it dangerous to have a BP that runs too low all the time? Hypotension is the other name for low BP and you'll find that I use them interchangeably in this article.
The first priority if you find you have hypotension is to see your doctor to explore if there could be something causing it.
Common culprits include things like low blood count or anemia, infection, medications or nerve related issues in the way that the heart and circulation works as a team.
Your doctor will probably examine you carefully and then run a few blood tests to check the inner workings of your system.
If these basic run throughs all work out clear then I recommend that you buy yourself a blood pressure monitor that you can use at home.
It's actually quite common for someone to feel that they are suffering from low BP numbers only to find that things are really pretty normal when they check it out at home.
But is it dangerous? Will hypotension cause you health problems - the answer is both yes and no.
If your BP is too low but you feel entirely well then you're at no risk and probably might even be healthier than average.
But if the opposite is true then you could be in trouble! Those with low blood pressure who feel unwell will be significantly more at risk of falls, kidney damage or unexpected blackout or fainting episodes.
The main message here is to get things checked out today if you find yourself struggling with hypotension and BP readings that are lower than they should be.
