How to Apply for Food Stamps in the State of Tennessee
- 1). Visit the Department of Human Services Location Finder page (see Resources section) to locate your area's State of Tennessee Department of Human Services field office.

- 3). Speak with a DHS representative about applying for food stamps.
- 4). Give the DHS representative any requested forms--birth certificates, Social Security cards, financial documents.
- 5). Complete the necessary forms for applying for food stamp assistance.
- 6). Give the completed forms to the DHS representative for processing. The representative will process the forms and inform you of the qualification process--how long it will take to know your approval status, when assistance will begin, and when your benefits EBT card will be mailed to you.

You must allow pop-ups within your browser for the website to work. - 2). Select your language next to "Please select your language." Click on the "Want to apply now" link at the bottom of the screen to complete the food stamp assistance application online.
If you are not sure you qualify for food stamp assistance, click on the "Eligibility screening" link to complete a qualification test. - 3). Click on the "Sign-up" link next to "New User?" to sign up for an account to access the online application.
- 4). Complete the "New User" sign-up application.
Follow the prompts to complete the food stamp assistance application. The DHS system will give you an appointment once you submit your application. - 5). Visit your area's DHS field office on the day of your appointment to speak with a DHS representative. Make sure you carry any requested forms--birth certificates, Social Security cards, financial documents--with you to the DHS office on the day of your appointment.
