1992 Camaro Specs

    • When the Ford Mustang became a hit, General Motors responded by releasing the Camaro in 1967. The Camaro has always had many options and available drivetrains. In 1992 the Camaro came in two trim-levels: the base-model RS and the high-performance Z28. Chevrolet also gave both trim-levels of the 1992 Camaro--the 25th anniversary edition--a convertible top option. The following year, 1993, Chevrolet completely redesigned the Camaro.

    Engines

    • The 1992 Camaro had two optional packages, an RS fitted with a 3.1-liter V-6 and the Z28 package equipped with a 5-liter V-8. The 3.1-liter powered RS model produced 140 horsepower and 185 foot-pounds of torque. The high-performance Z28, and its 5-liter V-8, produced 205 horsepower and 285 foot-pounds of torque.

    Transmissions

    • The 1992 Camaro had both an automatic and a manual transmission option. The automatic came as a four-speed with overdrive, as the manual came as a five-speed. Chevrolet used the five-speed as the base transmission and the automatic as an option.

    Fuel

    • The V-6 powered Camaro RS got 17 to 18 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, while the Z28 got 16 mpg in the city and 25 to 26 mpg on the highway. Both the RS and Z28 Camaros came equipped with a 15.5-gallon tank.

    Interior

    • The 1992 Camaro had 37 inch of front headroom in the coupe, while the convertible had 37.2 inches. The rear headroom measured 34.7 inches in the coupe and 36.8 inches in a convertible. It had 43 inches of front legroom and 27.8 inches of rear legroom in both the coupe and convertible. The coupe and convertible had the same 57.8 inches of front shoulder room. The coupe version of the 1992 Camaro had 56.3 inches of front shoulder room, while the convertible had 48.2 inches. The coupe and convertible shared the same front hip room of 56.2 inches, but the convertible had 43.9 inches of rear hip room, while the coupe had only 42.8 inches. Both the coupe and convertible had seating for up to four people.

    Exterior

    • The 1992 Camaro coupe and convertible shared the same length, width and wheelbase: 192.6 inches, 72.4 inches and 101 inches, respectively. The coupe versions height measured 50.4 inches, while the convertible version measured 51.5 inches high. The curb weight--weight without passengers or cargo--of the 1992 Camaro ranged from 3,105 to 3,479 lbs.
