I Think You Are Mistaken, Politicians Don"t Want Your Advice - They Want Your Money!
One of the funniest things I think is when a politician says; we need your help and we need your ideas because we want to fix government for you.
That's utterly ridiculous, and I run a think tank, so I happen to be "in the know" on this one.
You see, every time a politician says that, we will draw up a little report of what should be done, and send it to them.
But don't really want to solve the problems, they just want to pretend that they're doing something so they can get re-elected and keep going.
Sometimes they will ask if you want to be on a committee, a citizen's committee and participate in a workshop, but what they really want to do is put their name on the committee, and if it fails, they can blame the committee, and if it succeeds they can take credit for the success.
All the while, they have their own agenda they are running, and everything else is nothing more than a diversion.
This is because they don't really want to solve the problem, well, they wouldn't mind if they did, but they just want to look as if they are at all times.
In the end, politicians don't really want your ideas, they want your money in their campaign war chest so that when they run for re-election they can win.
However, it's amazing how many people fall for this ploy, and perhaps that's the reason that all of the politicians do it.
Look, I've sat in enough committees in my life to know this, I have participated in enough politics to watch this go on, but it is unfortunate that the average citizen doesn't get it; and frankly that's too bad.
Indeed, it's too bad because this is nothing more than an excuse, and nothing gets done because of it.
When a politician asks you as a constituent how you feel about a given situation, they don't really want any advice, they just want to show numbers to help them with their agenda, to prove themselves right.
They don't want any information which is counter to their already planned changes in the law, or the way the government runs things.
Politicians want your support and they want your money, and they will make you feel all good and special and think that your opinion matters, if you are willing to give them either of those things.
But if you think they need or want you for anything else, you are kidding yourself.
If you really are someone special, and an achiever in society, then they also want your endorsement, and yes your money too.
Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
