How to Measure a Window Shade to Cover the Sides of Window
- 1). Roll shades are commonly installed inside the window frame, but for complete light coverage, and to cover the sides of the window, the shade must be installed above the window frame, on the trim or above it, and be wide enough to cover the side window trim.
- 2). Measure the height from the top outer edge of the frame down to the window sill. Round the measurement down to the nearest 1/8 inch. Take the measurement in three different places, the left corner, the center, and the right corner of the window.
- 3). Measure the window's width from the desired points on each side of the window that the shade should cover. Round the measurement down to the nearest 1/8 inch.
- 4). Use these width and height measurements to order your shades.
