Ski Resorts Nearest To South Haven, Michigan

    • South Haven, Michigan, is located in the southwest corner of the state along the shores of Lake Michigan. The area, known for its wonderful beaches and the world famous South Haven Lighthouse, also features plenty of wintertime fun at local ski resorts. Each ski area offers season passes and provides season-long activities for adults and children.

    Timber Ridge Ski Area

    • Timber Ridge Ski Area, in Gobles, 23 miles west of South Haven, features a variety of runs for all levels of experience. You can use one of four chairlifts or three towropes to reach the top of the slopes. In addition to snowboarding, Timber Ridge features a tubing hill and mogul runs for advanced skiers. This ski area uses up-to-date snow-grooming equipment and has recently added more snow-making machinery. Racing programs for kids begin at 5 years old and include participation from parents with weekend sessions. U.S. Ski Team members in junior age divisions frequently visit Timber Ridge and race against members of the ski area's racing program. A master race training course is offered to adult skiers in January and February. After a day on the slopes, you can relax in The Cedar Chalet or the Snowshoe Bar and enjoy a spectacular view of the mountain. Timer Ridge also offers a picnic area for skiers.

    Swiss Valley Ski and Snowboard Area

    • Swiss Valley Ski and Snowboard Area is located 50 miles southeast of South Haven in Jones, Michigan. Skiers enjoy a slope of 225 vertical feet with 11 runs. Each run is lit for night skiing, and Swiss Valley features 100 percent snow-making capability. Three chair lifts and four towropes help you navigate the hill while snowboard action is available at two terrain parks. Swiss Valley has a group discount program in which a minimum of 15 people, who have never skied, receive free certified lessons. The area offers to large groups one free lift ticket and ski rental for every 20 paid customers. Swiss Valley's Junior Development Team provides children, 5 to 14 years old, with the opportunity to learn ski-racing techniques from professional instructors. The Chalet Lounge at Swiss Valley offers a full-service restaurant and a cafe serves quick snacks.

    Bittersweet Ski Area

    • Bittersweet Ski Area in Otsego is 32 miles east of South Haven and features 20 runs, the majority of which are classified as easy. Moderate to difficult runs are also offered for advanced skiers. You will have access to the hill via seven lifts, and four towrope choices. Bittersweet snowboarders can enjoy the terrain park while beginners can take part in the ski school. The school offers private and group lessons in skiing and snowboarding, and features programs for children. If you enjoy competition, Bittersweet has a junior and adult racing league program. Shoppers may browse the Snowberry ski shop for a full selection of gear for adults and children. The ski area has a full-service rental shop and provides professional ski and snowboard equipment adjustment and repair.
