How to Sync to Outlook Mobile

    Computer Connection

    • 1). Download the appropriate synchronization software from Microsoft's website. Windows 7 and Vista users need the Windows Mobile Device Center, while users of Windows XP and older should download Microsoft ActiveSync. Save and open the file to install the software.

    • 2). Turn on the Windows Mobile device with Outlook Mobile and connect it to the computer using the included USB connection cable. Wait for ActiveSync or the Windows Mobile Device Center to automatically start and recognize the device.

    • 3). Click "Setup your device" in the Windows Mobile Device Center, or "Next" in ActiveSync. Select the type of information you wish to synchronize and click "Next."

    • 4). Click "Next" or "Skip" to move past the wireless connection screens and the Exchange Server screens, then click "Finish" in ActiveSync or "Setup" in the Windows Mobile Device Center to save the changes.

    • 5). Wait for synchronization to finish, and then disconnect the device. To synchronize the device again, reconnect it and select the "Sync" option on the computer or the mobile device.

    Remote Exchange Server

    • 1). Make sure the mobile device has an active Internet connection, either through a local wireless connection or an over-the-air data connection.

    • 2). Tap the Start menu and select "Programs." Open ActiveSync.

    • 3). Open the "Menu" option and select "Configure Server."

    • 4). Enter the name of the Exchange Server you wish to synchronize with in the "Server address" box. You may also select "This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection" if the server supports this option. Tap "Next."

    • 5). Enter the domain name, along with the user name and password used to connect to the Exchange server, and then select "Next."

    • 6). Select the types of information you wish to use with Outlook Mobile. Use the corresponding "Settings" button to specify information within a category. Select "OK" and then "Finish" to save the selections.
