Learning How to Build Solar Panels

My aunt is in her 70s, is widowed and on a fixed income.
My uncle's pension helps her out quite a bit, but it hadn't taken into account the incredible rise in energy costs.
My aunt is a very proud woman.
The last thing she wants is a hand out.
But when she came to me with her electric bill, she was in tears.
She had no idea where she was going to get the money to pay the bill.
She told me that she wasn't doing anything differently.
She was raised in the great depression, I honestly don't think my aunt knows how to be anything but frugal.
We discussed a plan.
I told her that I was actually right in the middle of learning how to build solar panels.
I am not rich either and so buying panels at tens of thousands of dollar is completely out of the question.
So, I had no choice but to learn how to build solar panels.
I know that I made her feel better instantly.
Learning how to build solar panels doesn't take a masters in chemistry or any other science.
This part actually surprised me.
A buddy of mine explained to me that he learned how to build a solar panel because his wife wanted to install spa and jacuzzi and of course heat them but his electricity bill was already outrageous.
The thought of adding one more major electricity sucker was not something he could afford or really want to do.
So he learned how to use solar energy.
He researched material that taught him step by step instructions about how to build solar panels.
He got so good at this that he not only learned how to build solar panels to heat the jacuzzi but also for his home.
He is officially off the grid.
So, I figured if my buddy, who is a marketing guru, could learn how to use solar energy, I certainly could too.
It wasn't long before I actually knew how to use solar energy.
I tried it on my home first.
I didn't want to give my aunt any false hopes about my new found skill of learning how to build solar panels.
Shoot, what if I had failed? I would feel so badly! Within a week I saw my meter move more slowly, which told me that I was consuming less electricity than before I had learned how to build a solar panel.
So, the next step now that I figured that I did things correctly and had not only learned how to build a solar panel but also how to save energy, I built a few for my aunt.
It's been six months since my aunt has been using solar energy and now every month when my aunt gets her electricity bill she calls me to meet up for lunch.
She starts our lunch the exact same way, "Thank you so much for installing those things on my roof.
I don't know what you did, but I haven't paid an electric bill in months.
