How to Treat Cataracts With Astigmatism
- 1). Find an eye examination service with an ophthalmologist on staff. (See Things You Need for an explanation of what an ophthalmologist is.) You will need to see him or her for initial examinations and consultation concerning appropriate treatment.
- 2). Determine the best course of treatment for your cataract with astigmatism vision disorder. Depending on how soon the cataract was discovered, surgery may not be necessary or might be able to be postponed for a good while. (See Tips for more information)
- 3). If surgery is indicated or suggested, find an ophthalmologic surgeon in your area who performs cataract with astigmatism surgery. (See the Resources section for a website which can assist you in this search.
- 4). Determine which type of surgery is best for you, as there are many different procedures, some of which are less invasive than others. (See Tips for more information.)
- 5). Depending on the course of treatment you choose, follow your ophthalmologist’s instructions completely and correctly to achieve the greatest success in attaining clearer vision.
