Types of Pet Stain and Odor Removing Products

Pets are usually considered part of the family.
And many of us treat them as if they were human.
But humans don't usually use the bathroom on the floor.
Our pets do.
You may have your pet house trained but there will still be those occasions where an accident will occur.
Maybe your pet was sick.
Or maybe you got home a little later than expected and your pet couldn't hold it any longer.
The good thing is there are a number of great products available to help out with pet stains and odors.
These products are available in most stores and, if used properly, can be very effective in neutralizing stains and odors.
The thing to keep in mind with odor eliminating products is to find one that actually eliminates the odor rather than one that just masks it.
It should be common knowledge that our pets have very keen noses.
They can smell the smallest trace of odor.
This is why they tend to use the bathroom in the same spot over and over, even when you think you've cleaned it thoroughly.
It's one of their ways of marking territory.
Using the right cleaners, properly, will help to stop them from going in the same spot repeatedly.
Most carpet stain removers are chemical based.
Some are usually highly concentrated and are recommended for use with professional steam cleaning machines.
These types of cleaners can come in liquid form or be foam based.
There are also homemade remedies that can be mixed with regular household items such as baking soda or vinegar.
Always be cautious when using any cleaning product.
Follow the instructions and test the solution on a small, out of sight area first.
Using any cleaner improperly can potentially cause even greater damage.
The most effective pet stain removers will have enzymes that neutralize the proteins and bacteria in pet waste.
The bacteria in these proteins are the primary source of most pet odors.
These microscopic components will bond to your carpet fibers and release their odor.
It's like the old adage "cut off the head the body will die".
If you can eliminate the bacteria then you will neutralize the odor.
There are a number of good enzymatic cleaners that are made to prevent the bonding between the proteins and your carpet fiber.
With nothing to attach to, these proteins can be cleaned up more effectively, leaving your carpet stain and odor free.
Some products, such as Bac-Out, are made with natural ingredients such as grapefruit seed extract and orange peel.
Whatever product you decide on always rinse the cleaned area thoroughly after you have completed the process.
This will keep any residue from building up and attracting soil and dirt.
The truth is that having pets indoors can sometimes be a challenge.
Being well informed and well equipped can help you keep your head while keeping your carpet and upholstery clean.
