Death - Who"s That Knocking At Your Door?

Some of us have had the unfortunate circumstance of actually seeing someone pass away.
In most cases though it is in an emergency situation and all of the attention and focus is being placed on the surroundings of what is going on.
Then in those cases where death is expected, and there are loved ones that are there with the dieing individual, they are so caught up in their grief that they don't see what is taking place.
Their most vivid recollection perhaps is hearing that last breath being taken, or if there is medical equipment being used to monitor the life signs, they suddenly become quiet or set off an alarm.
In that short moment of time it is which many refer to as the transition.
The transition from life to death what is transpiring? And is it the same for all? As said, very few people really are able to focus on what is transpiring during those first few seconds that the heart has stopped beating, and the lungs have stopped drawing it the precious air needed to sustain them.
According to the medical guru's at this point one is clinically dead but not biologically dead.
There are those precious few moments that perhaps is where one is standing at the door between heaven and hell.
The question is who is knocking at the door? When the individual that is in this place opens the door, is it the doorway leading to hell with a staircase leading down? Or is it the doorway to heaven with the stairway leading up? With the flurry of emotions that pending death brings about, those who are looking on cannot recognize what physical signs there may possibly be because of the pain of the moment.
If we were able to focus on what was happening though, would the fading eyes of those passing on give some hint as to what they are experiencing? Would the tauntness of their mouth, and the struggle to live give some clues? Or would the relaxed lips and the last look placed upon you, tell you that there need not be any struggle for life, for they have opened the door before them and what awaits them far excels the most vivid of imaginations.
Those that are most close to death are the very ones who have the skills to preserve life.
These are our medical people.
Yet even they for many of them with all their education, experience and determination for life seem to close down their keen observations once the heart ceases to beat.
It seems that once this life has slipped out of their hands it is simply a time to move on.
There are many stories of near death experiences.
Some will scoff at them while others will listen with intrigue.
Then there are those that don't want to hear for the fear of what might be said.
One thing is for certain though, death comes to us all.
Though we may not want to think about this, we do need to think about who will be knocking at our door when that moment comes.
