Types of 2007 Acura TLs
- The Acura TL is a midsize sedan. In 2007, the TL, which was available in two trim options, was redesigned with upgraded mechanical specifications and more electronic features. The standard Acura TL and the performance-oriented Type-S had different engines but were otherwise similar mechanically. Differences in the two trims were more obvious in convenience features.
- The 2007 Acura TL base model had a 3.2-liter V6 with single overhead camshafts, a bore of 89 mm, a stroke of 86 mm and a compression ratio of 11 to 1. This engine produced 258 horsepower and 233 ft.-lb. of torque. This model had four disc brakes with a four-wheel anti-lock brake system. It sported an independent wishbone front suspension and an independent multi-link rear suspension, both with stabilizer bars and coil springs. Its 17.1-gallon fuel tank had an EPA estimated fuel economy of 20 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
- The 2007 Acura TL Type-S had a 3.5-liter V6 engine with single overhead camshafts, a bore of 89 mm, a stroke of 93 mm and a compression ratio of 11.0 to 1. This engine produced 286 horsepower and 256 ft.-lb. of torque. It had Brembo four-wheel disc brakes and a four-wheel anti-lock brake system. It had an independent wishbone front suspension and an independent multi-link rear suspension, both with stabilizer bars and coil springs. Its 17.1-gallon fuel tank had an EPA estimated fuel economy of 19 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
- Aside from the mechanical specifications, these two trim options had few differences. The Type-S came standard with a navigation system; the same feature was optional on the base model. The base model was available with an automatic transmission; the Type-S model could be purchased with either a manual or an automatic transmission. The Type-S had such features as a trunk spoiler, floor mats and sports seats in the front, all of which are unavailable in the base model.
