Your students losing interest in reading/writing? Read what you can do about it
Most students today are no longer excited about the art of reading and writing. The younger generation seems to be involved in some recent activity in reading with books such as harry potter and twilight being released.. Authors are becoming more involved in writing novels, whether they are historical or fictional for the preteen and teen students. With more and more authors writing more and more novels for this age group, more students have become inclined towrads reading and some have even expressed their interest in writing novels.
Since majority of students do not learn great deal of grammar or literature in school, there never is an inclination for students to be interested in reading or writing.. Literature and english grammar along with math are the least favored subjects in school.. Fundamentally, if the school system presents some of this material in a more modern way, we may be able to see some interest in students in this generatin.. Perhaps as we become more technologically advanced in what and how subjects are taught, there will be a revived interest in writing.
First the student has to become interested and excited about reading. There is a device that may help and that is text to speech service. Such services help students get excited about reading. the student does not have to sit in a single place and read but can use text to speech services to actually listen to material.. This approach makes it less boring for the students to begin with.. Slowly, the students will realize that witten material is not scary after all..
Parents and teachers can instill a little excitement for writing, in the student, by encouraging the student to write about something he or she is excited about i.e. an accomplishment, a sports activity, or a memoir (remembering something that happened that was either funny or sad).. If the student has an active imagination or any creative ability then he or she should be encouraged to write about it. If a student knows that others are interested in, writing a blog entry on a daily basis can actually help increase their excitement..
Inherently it's not accurate to say that students do not like to write. students text each other so frequently that proves they do like to write.. Texting messages is a form of telling a story, and if the student understands this then the excitement about telling stories will be born. If the student is made to believe that he or she has the ability to tell a story then they will attempt it. With encouragement and without criticism, parents and teachers can get students excited to write..
