How to Clean an Inground Drained Concrete Pool
- 1). Skim the leaves and floating debris off the top of the pool with a pool skimmer. The more you can remove while the pool is still full, the easier and less time it will take to clean it once it is drained.
- 2). Drain the pool, and hose down the sides of the pool to force the rest of the debris down to the center of the pool drain. Rake up all the debris and place it in the garbage bags for easy disposal.
- 3). Put on all safety gear. Rubber boots and gloves will prevent your skin from being burned by the diluted acid. The safety goggles are necessary to prevent acid from splashing up into your eyes.
- 4). Combine the acid and water in the metal bucket to create the acid wash. Stir it with the metal dowel, and then pour it into the metal watering can. Acid washes are a great way of removing stains and the fine top layer from the concrete, bringing new concrete to the surface.
- 5). Pour the mixture down the sides of the pool around the entire perimeter. Let it stand for about five minutes.
- 6). Rinse out the pool. You will see bubbling and foaming of the acid at the center. Let it continue to drain until there is no more acid bubbling at the base of the pool. The pool is now clean.
