In several Latin American countries and Spain, the day dedicated to the jokes is not the first Aprile, but on December 28, when we celebrate the Catholic liturgy dedicated to the Holy Innocents.

In Italy, the tradition of the First April dates back to 1860/1880 or so. One of the first city where the custom took hold was Genoa, and it spread first among the middle classes high, then all the other social classes.
