Tips on Buying a Mattress

There are several factors to consider when buying a mattress and while most are obvious, there are a few that you may not have thought of.
Price, comfort and durability are the big three as they should be, but there are three other things to consider to make sure that you are happy with your new mattress long term.
1) Heat retention.
When people are buying a mattress, most choose to lie down on it for a few minutes to see how firm it is or how soft it is.
People want to know if it's comfortable to them.
One thing that can't be determined by doing this, however, is how much of your body heat the mattress will retain.
Some mattresses aren't built to "breathe" and throughout the course of the night can hold in so much of the heat that your body puts off, it becomes very uncomfortable.
Since you can't lay on the mattress for hours when testing it, ask the salesman or read the specs from the manufacturer to find out what technology was employed to prevent heat retention.
2) Warranty.
The warranty length is what most people pay attention to.
However, the fine print of the warranty is just as important.
Will stains be covered? What about rips and tears? Will the cost of shipping on replacement mattresses be covered? Make sure to familiarize yourself with exactly what is covered and what is not.
3) Density.
No matter what type of mattress you choose, (foam, coil, spring, etc.
), the density of the support material used is important.
This will tell you how long you can expect the comfort level you are experiencing when the mattress is new to hold up.
