The Best Way to Cool Off
Having played the "loyal dog" role long enough, Dougal, a red heeler / lab-mix puppy, takes over his kiddie pool as soon as his master steps away. An Austin heatwave in July of 2009 forced residents to find creative ways to cool off.
That Austin heat is typical. "It gets blazing hot here in the summer," says Dwyer, "and Dougal and his canine friends love jumping in the pool to cool off after playing in the yard.
Dougal will even lay down in it, hang his head out and take a little nap."
